“Home” explores Jacques Derrida’s Deconstructionist theory about multiplicity in
meaning, certainty, identity and truth. Derrida
claimed that words refer to other words and therefore create an “indefinite referral of signifier to the signified.” The aim of the project was to deconstruct the word “Home” to disclose underlying networks of associations.
To make this poster, a quick survey was held asking for a noun, verb, texture, and color that to the respondent, most instinctively corresponded to “Home.” The was then used to create a system that informed the color, composition and imagery of the poster.
