Caesura: The living monuments is not a speculation, nor an utopia or dystopia, but rather a short manifesto that explores the human relationship with our environment.
 

In this post-apocalyptic setting, all surviving humans live in organic monuments called “Caesura.” All monuments are alive, and require the right support from humans in order to maintain its existence. This is a concept of co-existent survival, where traditional roles are reversed and humans must recognize the respect and responsibility necessary to retain a balanced existence.&#38;nbsp;

	Society puts a tremendous pressure on women to act a certain way and look a certain way. Nothing is more alienating for young girls and women than feeling like they are different from everyone else: that their thoughts, emotions, feelings, and body are not normal…and therefore, not ok. Nike Women can be a community of allies to counteract this pressure.
	This season, our campaign focused around three themes: 


Representation &#38;amp; Inclusivity 
Redefining sport
Normalizing imperfection

In the hero campaign, we elevated the voices of three female allies— Cata Diaz, Paris Alexandra,&#38;nbsp; and Tomoko Ueno— who are pushing boundaries and/or making safe spaces through sport.

The product marketing assets were less about storytelling, however was shot with the three key themes in mind: 1) Representation of skin and body types, 2) Redefining sports through unconventional movements 3) Normalizing imperfection with zero cosmetic retouching.

Japan Institute is an organization established by the Portland Japanese Garden committee as an opportunity to facilitate more educational workshops and dialogues around Japanese culture.


Built to be sister organizations, I was tasked to create a branding system that worked harmoniously with the current Japanese Garden logo, while still honoring the unique function of the institute.












	










Logo Concept:

In Japan, a lot of emphasis is placed on the act of giving rather than the gift itself. It is a way to show respect, kindness, and generosity, which are all core values in Japanese culture. The logo is inspired&#38;nbsp; by Mizuhiki—An important element in Japanese gift giving.&#38;nbsp; It is a traditional Japanese decorative cord often used to tie around gifts and envelopes. Every detail—shapes, colors, and number of strings— is carefully considered to communicate different meanings. Mizuhiki is a creative expression of connection and empathy. It embodies the true spirit of Japan Institute and its mission to inspire harmony &#38;amp; peace.

Innovation is in our DNA. It’s the core of how we help runners achieve their goals every day. In SU22, as part of a larger Nike Running initiative, our team crafted various innovation storytelling for our key running products.








	










Nike ZoomX Invincible Run Flyknit 2 was a challenging product as it’s target audience sat between the everyday (casual) runners and the dedicated runners. Our goal was to create a campaign with a relatable tonality, while also elevating the techical features that appeals. to our running enthusiasts.
Our solution was to use copy and visual metaphors to create an informative, yet light hearted visual.

	Our Nike Running How-to Guide repurposes the motivation, guidance and coaching found on various Nike platforms with a refreshed take on old school running manuals.


The guide serves to lower the barrier of entry to running by offering useful content in the form of digestible running guidance and self-help nuggets.&#38;nbsp;


Each season features a new chapter in our Guide and reflect different themes in which the guidance content will align with.




	In SP22, we began the exploration of Possibility, building on the excitement of the new year to help runners set goals, stick with them and surprise themselves with their own achievements. For the SU22 guide we’ll be helping runners lace up properly, learn self-defense tactics for runners, and recover with yoga for runners.

It’s a simple thing, but bringing intention to something as basic as tying your shoes can make a difference in a run. Start fully loosened, recommends Nike Running Head Coach Chris Bennett, then begin tightening gently from the toes up towards the ankle. “While you’re doing this, you want to dorsiflex your foot,” says Coach B. “It’s a geeky term, but all that means is you want to point your toes up to the sky. That’s going to arch your foot a little bit and flex your ankle, so when you finish tightening and relax your foot you’ve created a little bit of space there. The goal is snug, not tight.” Then take a moment to check in with yourself—asking how you’re feeling, and what your purpose for the run is—before heading out the door.


The other key ingredient? Don’t be afraid to readjust. “A common mistake runners make is they start a run and feel like they have no ability to stop the train,” says Coach B. “You’re the conductor, the engineer. Just stop and fix your shoes! It doesn’t have to be perfect, just needs to be comfortable.”

Running solo can be an expression of freedom, a meditation, and a unique way to experience your environment, but for many runners, it can also be inaccessible. Nicole Snell is dedicated to helping change that by teaching self-defense techniques and situational awareness to help minimize risk. While these tools don’t solve the problem they can help build confidence. “When we learn how to use our body to protect ourselves it can change how we walk through the world and give us the confidence to do the things we want to do,” says Nicole, “but in addition to that, using your intuition, your awareness, having verbal skills—those are things that we’re doing every day.”

	Dance is a space for self-expression and community. It has the power to influence culture and drive change. At Nike, sport is symbolic of more than athleticism. It’s a driver of positive change.




	So in HO22, Nike launched “Own the Floor” Campaign— our affirmation of Dancers and their communities, all led by Parris Goebel. This season we committed to giving them the floor, listening, learning and amplifying every voice in the room. An inclusive and democratic journey spotlighting dancers of different shapes, sexuality, movement and style.

	
	



The campaign consisted of two parts— the hero campaign led by Parris Goebel, and the product marketing that showcased our key seasonal Nike products through the lens of Dance.

The campaign first launched in November with our Dance declaration, a celebration of the heart, sweat and tears of dancers through the voice of Parris Goebel.

This declaration was accompanied by a combined product marketing offense led by the dance POV—in which we shot 17 key looks for 9 stories, and over 100+ digital executions. The result was a massive celebration of dance through both storytelling and product marketing.

The goal throughout the campaign was to cast dancers rather than models in order to authentically capture the movements of dance. The simple art direction and collage helped to bring these images to life through dynamic and energetic compositions.

Introduced as the first basketball shoes&#38;nbsp; featuring college team colors, the Dunk has remained an iconic symbol of camaraderie and collective identity. In SP21, we introduced our long-term creative concept for Dunk “True To Your Crew” by celebrating individuality through the lens of the crew. 





	










In this shoot, we tried to capture the iconic creative pillars of Dunk including, Lo-fi, street, bold, and defiant spirit. Due to covid restrictions we could not actually feature a crew, but using various art direction techniques and props, we tried to make the images feel like a group of kids shooting each other in a warehouse.

In Holiday 2020, our models and protagonists showcased the spirit of “Yours To Be Worn” through the dimensions of her life and style. 
We used an iconic and simple grid to showcase style, product, and protagonist storytelling through one holistic visual that champions how she brings meaning to her Blazer.

	The campaign consisted of two parts:&#38;nbsp;

1. The Product Marketing focused on highlighting the seasonal products, mainly to serve purchase intent in transactional placements like Nike.com, App, and paid media.

2. The Narrative Campaign focused on elaborating the story and messaging of “Yours to be Worn” through 3 protagonists from around the world.&#38;nbsp;
